Photo Submissions
This is something new and very different from the submissions for posts to be included in e[lust]. I generally choose the edition header photos myself but I don’t always have time….and if I don’t have time, then I don’t use one and I really like highlighting the sexy bloggers who are more into photos than writing. This is different because I will be choosing only 2 or 3 every month. One will be the edition header photo and one (or two) will be highlighted in the sidebar – a feature that hasn’t been up for a few months. I might get a bunch of submissions, I might not get many…who knows! Submitting does not guarantee that you will be chosen, though. You are also not obligated to post the e[lust] edition you’re featured in. If you want to, that’s great. But the bloggers who participate in e[lust] with posts are not required to use the edition header photo (although most do).
Here is what I generally look for and other guidelines/rules:
~ Artistic. Sexy in a sensual way. “Tasteful” as opposed to obvious. A look back through old editions will give you a better idea of what I choose than mere words can sum up, though.
~ You will also notice that the photos are all black & white. Either they are originally posted that way or I look for color photos that would translate to black & white well…and not all do. You do not need to do that, I can do it myself with Photoshop.
~ I use horizontal (landscape) photos 99% of the time for the edition header photos, FYI.
~ I am only going to be using fellow bloggers; amateur models who have Tumblrs don’t really fit in that category although I can’t deny that they have some wonderful photos (as evidenced by many editions of Pleasurists) I just am doing this to include sex bloggers in a different way as opposed to just having something sexy up.
~ You do need to have a public blog where the photo was originally published in the month preceding the edition you’re being considered for. The photo will reside on e[lust] servers but clicking the photo will lead people to your post. The text link credit underneath the photo also will lead directly to your post – I will name and link to your blog post only, though, not the photographer. That link is up to you to provide on your site.
~ You can only submit your own photo. If you see someone’s weekly pic that would be great for e[lust], point them here. By submitting you’re giving your consent for use in exchange for credit link and are aware that it will get you traffic beyond your normal group. If chosen, I will not remove your photo or link at a later date because you changed your mind about the exposure you are receiving. If you are an anonymous blogger and submit a photo that could identify you…you need to consider this aspect first.
~ If your photo does not already have a watermark on it for your site address and you would like me to add that, I will.
~ Your photo should have been published on your blog during the month preceding the edition you are submitting for. February edition = Jan 7th – Feb 7th. Anything submitted after Feb 7th will be considered for March.
